In The Public Eye
Public art is usually statues and similar pieces placed in parks and public buildings. This series with Melissa-Mendini is inspired by that idea, but taken one step further. Melissa is living art.
We think that there should be an addition of temporary public art. Art where performers, models and artists present their work on a regular but temporary basis. These artistic endeavours should also be represented by artistic nudes too.
Apparently many laws in the world allow nude art, but don’t allow the creation of it. We know, that doesn’t make sense. Let us explain. A person posing nude for photos in some places would have the person arrested for indecent exposure or willful exposure, BUT the photograph of the person is counted as art. Creating art is indecent, the actual captured image is art. Oh dear.
Once again there were many people at that location that day. At one stage a dog came up to Melissa-Mendini and wanted a pat. A middle aged lady and her son where the dogs owners and despite the fact they would have seen that Melissa was totally nude before. Even while she patted the dog her breasts escaped the fabric several times. Not once did the lady get upset, because she could see before and after that we were producing some beautiful art.
So we think there should be more nude art done in public as it is no different than a nude statue or a painting. They are all art. Each movement is captured in fractions of a second. Each fraction adds up to an entire second. Each second becomes minutes. It is all art no matter how tiny fraction of time we use or how large. Melissa-Mendini is an artistic beauty that very much belongs in the public eye.
