A Colourful Nude Parrot
Parrots are bright, loud, beautiful, colourful, energetic, intelligent, and funny. So when I decided to do a photo shoot based on a parrot, only one person came to mind. Harper has all those qualities and more. This is a fusion of artistic nudes, fashion and commentary.
When you say to people "artistic nude" usually the first image that people form in their mind is a black and white photo with a nude laying on a couch with their back to the camera, or something very similar. It is usually a dark and gloomy setting. I believe that artistic nudes can also be bright, colourful, and full of vigour
I don't understand why art should be always dark, gloomy and moody. Yes I know that is sometimes (often) a reflection of the artist and their state of mind or being, but I can also see art as a celebration of life, a celebration of hope, youth, beauty, and just the joy of being alive. What memories do you cherish the most? Especially when you have lost a loved one? You can sit in a dark stupor and sink into a bottomless pit of depression, or choose to the see the value that their life added to yours. See the beauty of the world we live in.
Why a parrot? Well parrots are to me a symbol of that colourful joy, with their bright plumage. They are always noisy, energetic, usually comical in their antics. If you watch wild parrots as they fly about, they represent all the fun, freedom, joy and happiness in the world!
It is that celebration, that hope, that life, that energy, I see in Harper, especially in this series of nudes. I hope that some people can see that art, can be a message of hope and be a bright beacon of colourful joy!
